SUPER CELEBRATION BIRTHDAY PARTY FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

When can a Super Celebration happen?

Saturday 10 a.m., 1, 3:30 & 6 p.m.; Sunday 10 a.m., 1, & 3:30 p.m. Weekday availability may be available upon request. Please call 651-225-6000 for more information.

How long is the Super Celebration Party?

Super Celebration parties are 1.5 hours reserved in our private party room with a birthday party host leading Museum-themed activities.

What Super Celebration themes are available?

How many people can come to a birthday party?

Twenty people (adults and children) are included with the party package. Extra guests (after twenty people) are $6 per person, including adults and children. Children under 1 are free and do NOT count towards the party total.

Can I or my guests use my membership for entrance into a birthday party?

No, because a birthday consists of activities that go above and beyond the everyday Museum experience (involves cake, supplies, etc.).

What if more than 20 people come to the party?

You must pay extra for any person over the twenty person limit. We are unable to take multiple payments towards the birthday party transaction and therefore cannot allow guests to pay for themselves.

What are the cake choices?

Cake choices are white, chocolate and marble. Frosting choices are vanilla or chocolate. A standard 1/4 sheet cake comes decorated with balloons and "Happy Birthday." If you would like a different flavor, you can contact Jerabek's Bakery (651-228-1245) to see if this is possible. If is is possible, you will be charged extra by us for the special order (in $5 increments).

Can I add special decorations to the cake?

Yes, you can have the cake specially decorated for an additional $5 charge, with the exception of trademarked characters, the possibilities are endless.

What are the pizza options and how much pizza should I order?

Pizza is an additional charge of $12 (plus tax) per large one-topping, cut into 12 slices. Our  recommendation is 1 pizza per 4-5 people as a snack, 3-4 people per pizza for a full meal.

Can I bring in outside food?

Yes, you can bring in outside food or order your own pizza. We do not have a place to keep your food warm or cold, but you are welcome to bring a crockpot or cooler if needed.

What are the options for party favors?

Party favors are an additional charge of $5 (plus tax) per party favor bag. You can choose between Science, Animal or Art themed favors (for ages 3 and up) or Toddler (for ages 3 and under). Other types of party favors may be available upon request. Please call 651-225-6000 for more information.

What time should the party arrive?

The party family should arrive at least 15 minutes before the party is scheduled to begin; or 15 minutes before your guests arrive.

When can/should the party play in the galleries?

Parties can play in the galleries from 9 a.m. to when the Museum closes (4 p.m. Tuesday-Thursday, 8 p.m. on Friday and Saturday and 5 p.m. on Sunday). If you book a late afternoon party (3 p.m. on Tuesday-Thursday, 6 p.m. on Saturday or 4 p.m. on Sunday) you must  play before your party. The Museum will be closing the same time your party is ending so you won't have time to play after your party.

Do I have to pay to book a party?

You must put down a $50 non-refundable deposit to hold the party time. If you needed to cancel, you will not be refunded, but you can transfer the amount to any party that is booked within a year of the original date of the party. The $50 transfer only works for another party, not a gift certificate or special event. The remaining balance is due at the end of your party time.

Where should my guests and I park?

Parking is available in the World Trade Center parking ramp kitty-corner to the Museum. The cost is $4 for three hours with validation from the Museum and $1 every 1/2 hour after that. Please enter the ramp from Wabasha Street and bring your ticket into the Museum to get discount parking.

Can guests be dropped off or picked up?

Yes, guests can be dropped off or picked up in front of the Museum on West 7th Street and must be greeted by an adult. Museum staff cannot receive or watch children.
