A picture of a Museum visitor role-playing a fireman. Check out what’s new in Our World!
Discover diverse environments in the newly renovated Our World, which focuses on culture and community. In the Studio Express, children select popular, cultural or children’s music, costumes and an animated background, then watch as they star in their own dance video. The Community Gallery showcases the Mexica/Aztec culture artwork of students and an artist in residency experience at Riverview Elementary School. See the diversity of dance in your community as you watch “Conversations with Minnesota Dancers,” a video featuring interviews with local dancers. Girls from a Hmong dance group from the West Side of St. Paul trained on cameras and computers, and worked as the tech crew in the making of the video featuring Jane Addams School Dancing Girls, Danza Mexica Cuauhtemoc and Tou Ger Xiong.

You can still role play jobs from the “grown–up” world and enjoy your favorite places in the gallery such as the Our World front porch, where activities and performances take place; the neighborhood Mercado (market); the Asian restaurant, where children pretend to cook a mouth–watering meal; and the Our World bus that goes to any destination children can imagine!

The Our World renovations are part of Minnesota Children’s Museum’s Community Faces and Places initiative, which establishes enduring relationships with culturally rich communities as a way to increase the value and impact of cultural experiences for Museum visitors.

Programming in Our World is presented by Ameriprise Financial.
