Discover, explore and more at Minnesota Children’s Museum’s half-day, drop-off summer camps. Combine two camps a day for a whole-day experience with the lunchtime option. Kids can make new friends, explore hands-on adventures, try something new and play while they learn. Camps are for preschool (ages 4 to entering grade 1 in fall 2007) and primary (entering grades 2 through 4 in the fall of 2007) children. The summer camps are five consecutive half-day sessions scheduled to begin June 18.
Summer camp participants can choose from four unique sessions, Spark Arts, Nature Near You, Weather Wonders and Building Basics. Spark Arts campers will experience puppetry, music, creative dramatics, visual arts and book making inspired by the Museum’s exhibits. Nature Near You participants will discover animal and plant habitats and life cycles as they explore Museum galleries and enjoy visits from our turtle and snake, experience our sensory garden and grow their own plant. Weather Wonders campers become meteorologists and conduct experiments to see how air, water and temperature determine our weather as they explore the Rooftop ArtPark. Building Basics campers explore with Curious George™ in the
Curious George: Let’s Get Curious! exhibit. They can apply their math, science and problem solving skills as they choose and use materials to meet building challenges.
Each camp begins the day with circle time, followed by themed activities, Big Fun! physical play, structured Museum exploration, Story Time, snack and art experiences. This year, a new whole-day camp experience is available with a lunchtime option. Families may join the campers for the last part of the Friday session and share in their experiences. Campers receive a t-shirt and one free rental of a Family Science StoryPack™ per family.
