ST. PAUL, Minn. — Join in commemorating 25 years of illuminating young minds as Minnesota Children’s Museum holds the Bright Lights Big Night gala. Benefiting the Museum’s Access Program, the sophisticated affair will be held at International Market Square Saturday, February 3, 2007.
The three Museum founders, Marialice Harwood, Kate Donaldson, and Suzanne Payne, and their children serve as the six co-chairs of the anniversary gala and Julie Nelson from KARE 11 will reprise her role as gala emcee to highlight the night’s events. A cocktail party and silent auction will be followed by the live auction and a gourmet dinner by D’Amico Catering. In recognition of the birthday bash, live music and dancing will light up the night.
Funds raised go towards the Museum’s Access Program, which helps make the Museum accessible to all families, regardless of financial limitations. The Access Program includes family memberships, Target Free 3rd Sundays, and school and community group discounts.
A raffle complements the gala with a prize of a week-long stay at one of five luxurious vacation homes in Cabo San Lucas, Miami, Scottsdale, Deer Valley or North Lake Tahoe. There are only 400 raffle tickets available; the cost is $100 per ticket. Patrons do not need to be present to win. Call 651-225-6055 to purchase.
Tickets to the gala are still available for $250 and $500 each and can be purchased online at
www.MCM.org/galablbn.shtml or by phone at 651-225-6034.
Cocktail Party
Featuring complimentary cocktails, gourmet hors d’oeuvres, and live entertainment, patrons can peruse and bid on hundreds of tempting items in the silent auction.
Silent Auction
One-of-a-kind items such as “Angola, Louisiana,” taken by world famous photographer Alec Soth as part of his project “Sleeping by the Mississippi,” and fabulous getaway packages to places like Palm Desert, Calif., for a golf getaway or to beautiful Madeline Island in the Apostle Islands are just a few of the enviable objects up for silent auction bidding.
Birthday Bash
A lavish spread by D’Amico Catering will sate appetites as the live auction exercises checkbooks. A birthday toast and dancing complete this 25th birthday celebration in style.
Live Auction
Many memorable vacations and experiences will be up on the auction block, including a five night stay in a deluxe Casita at La Quinta Golf Resort and Spa in Palm Springs, Calif., or a vacation at The Grand Bay Hotel in Manzanillo, Mexico. Or stay in town for a ride on Santa’s Sleigh at the 2007 TCF Holidazzle Parade or skate out the flag at a Minnesota Wild game.
