Parents Magazine Names Minnesota Children’s Museum One of 10 Best Children’s Museums

Tons of cool stuff to touch, one-of-a-kind educational exhibits, and special events galore puts local favorite on top of Parents must-visit list

ST. PAUL, MN – Parents magazine revealed the exclusive findings from its 10 Best Children’s Museums survey and Minnesota Children’s Museum is near the top of the heap.

According to the Association of Children’s Museums, more than 30 million children and families annually visit children’s museums. Parents researched children’s museums across the country to identify those with clever educational exhibits, healthy places for lunch, nursing areas, family restrooms and stroller parking.

“Minnesota Children’s Museum is thrilled to be recognized by Parents magazine, and we’re happy to join them in their goal of making the world a better place for children,” said Dianne Krizan, Minnesota Children’s Museum president. “Providing a space for children to play and learn may seem like a simple concept, but the creative, interactive experiences that we and other children’s museums provide can have a lifelong impact on a child’s development.

Parents worked with the 300-plus members of the Association of Children’s Museums and eliminated those without many offerings for kids under 3. Then the magazine asked the remaining museums questions to help decide the leaders. After tallying the scores, Parents went to local moms to ask for insider tips.

According to the Parents survey, the 10 Best Children’s Museums are:

  1. The Children’s Museum of Houston
  2. The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis
  3. Please Touch Museum, Philadelphia
  4. Boston Children’s Museum News Release
  5. Madison Children’s Museum
  6. Kohl Children’s Museum
  7. Children’s Museum of Pittsburgh
  8. Children’s Museum of Phoenix
  9. National Museum of Play, Rochester, NY
  10. Minnesota Children’s Museum

About Minnesota Children’s Museum

Minnesota Children’s Museum is a non-profit community educational organization committed to smart play: sparking children’s learning through play. Infants ages six months through children age 10 discover their world through hands-on exhibits in five permanent galleries: Our World connects children to people and places in their community as they role play “grown–ups” in a child-size environment; World Works encourages creativity and problem-solving through investigation and experimentation; Earth World immerses children in lifelike Minnesota habitats to nurture an understanding of the natural world; Habitot® enables infants and toddlers to safely explore four developmentally designed learning landscapes; and Rooftop ArtPark brings nature and art together in an outdoor gallery on the Museum’s fourth floor. Two special galleries offer exciting traveling exhibits from around the world. Fun drop-in programs such as Story Time and Big Fun! take place daily. Kid Spark, the Museum store, is located in the first floor lobby. Minnesota Children’s Museum has been providing children and adults with a fun, educational environment since 1981.

The Museum is located at Seventh and Wabasha streets in downtown St. Paul.
