Habitot®

See what develops in the Habitot gallery

Toddlers love to reach, touch, creep, crawl, and cruise around in Habitot®, a world sprinkled with mats and pads for sensitive knees and toes. Four tot-friendly Minnesota "habitots" including a prairie, cave, pond and forest, encourage toddlers and infants to safely investigate a fun, interactive, and experiential world created just for them. There are fabric flowers for plucking; mirrors for gazing; buttons for pushing; and peek-a-boo holes for exploring.

Each area is designed to stimulate kids' senses and provide hours of fun and fascination for growing minds. Habitot®'s learning landscapes are designed to support infant and toddler cognitive, physical and social development and make children's learning and comprehension visible to caregivers. Plus, the soft and safe landscapes provide a perfect balance for endless fun and play.

Family Resource Center

The seed of literacy is planted in infancy and takes root in the right environment. Visitors will find books and resources in the Family Resource Room that focus on children's language development. Encourage your child to make the sounds of the animals she sees in Habitot®, and begin to name objects out loud. Pick up some of the simple picture books found throughout the gallery to read to your child in a cozy space.

Habitot® Tuesday

Children four years and younger get special treatment at the Museum on the first, third and fifth Tuesdays of every month! No groups are scheduled on Habitot Tuesdays, so the environment is especially friendly for little ones. Presented by Travelers Foundation.
