You may have read about Arthur – a very young man (okay, a little boy of 4 years) who raided his piggy bank to donate to the St. Paul museum’s Capital Expansion Campaign, Room to Play.

Arthur’s mom, Claudia, says “We think it’s important to share our love with others, in many ways, including financially. Even if we don’t have a lot, we have more than others.” Arthur and Claudia’s perspective on giving inspired a lot of donations both small and large in St. Paul

This month in Rochester, we plan to give back all month to our community.

Teaching Kids to Give Back

Essence magazine suggests 5  ways to teach children to give back suggesting the givers receive a lot from donating, too. With our gifts, we help others and build character along the way, “But teaching your child to give to others is not only good for the world, it’s also good for your child. In research recently published by Harvard Business School, giving to others promotes happiness, enhances your sense of purpose and increases your satisfaction with life.” That’s something we can easily champion because, after all, play provides many amazing benefits, too. (If you’re unfamiliar with the power of play, dive into play’s 7 beacons to success).
